The Beacon House is Upper Michigan's Hospitality House.
We're here to provide our neighbors and their families a safe and comforting place to stay in times of medical crisis.

Now we're facing a crisis of our own, and this capital campaign is designed to make it easy for you to lend your support.

Please consider one of the following:

Make a donation of $6.00

Donate $6.00 for each of your family members

Hold a fund-raising event in your community on behalf of your hundreds of neighbors who have come to Marquette for medical care and stayed at The Beacon House. The proceeds you send from your car wash, can drive or bake sale will make a difference! If you need ideas or would like to do something unique, click here to email us with your questions or needs.

Join forces with other organizations to sponsor a room on behalf of your community or service club. Are you a member of Rotary or Kiwanis? We'd proudly name a room for you. If your organization has 36 clubs across the U.P., that's only $250 per year for your local club to donate each year for 5 years!! Imagine walking down the hallway and seeing your organizations name and logo on the door. What a wonderful message that will send to our neighbors about your caring and commitment.

Name the building! Perhaps your business or family has been blessed with the kind of wealth that would allow you to donate $1 million dollars over time. We would proudly name our facility for you, and share with the world your generosity on a daily basis as the thousands of cars go by on our heavily traveled street.

Insights from the Board...
The Beacon House Board of Directors are some of the most amazing people you’ll ever have a chance to meet - or never meet. You see, these wonderful community leaders are more likely to spend countless hours pouring over financial statements in conference rooms, trying to find new ways to keep the Beacon House lights shining for its guests, than they would be anywhere else. Their only goal is to make the Beacon House a warm and welcoming place for our Upper Michigan neighbors and their families in times of medical crisis. And their biggest goal today is to secure the funds to fix the roof, replace the mechanical equipment and remodel the guest rooms.

We asked a few board members to help us understand why people from across the U.P. should donate to the new campaign, and why they personally are making a contribution.

Here’s what they told us…

Lynne Reed- US Special Delivery, Dickenson County
The Beacon House provides more than a place to rest your head when a spouse or family member is going through a difficult time. The friendly helpful staff and volunteers are a support system, a friendly ear, people who genuinely care about the people they serve. The facilities provide a safe and comfortable place to rest only a couple of blocks from where your loved one is hospitalized. The kitchen facilities bring people together for a cup of coffee, home cooked meal or just a snack. The Beacon House's goal is to provide a home away from home for those who are in need. And you should donate because it might be your neighbor or family member who needs it down the road, and you’ll want it to be available for their comfort and care.

We’re making a donation to Beacon House, because through my life experience I understand personally the positive impact the Beacon House is for people going through difficult health situations. Their mission is an honorable one that touches the lives of many people across the UP and Northeaster WI. It is good to know that if someone I love is in need of spending a night or two or even longer in Marquette to be close to their loved one who is hospitalized, the Beacon House is there to help. The Beacon House does not charge for your stay, they are supported 100% through donations from individuals and business. That is why I support the Beacon House.

Renée Prince- Marquette, MI
Beacon House serves patients and their families from every county in the Upper Peninsula. Most patients and families travel at least 50 miles for medical appointments, many much further, quite a hardship for many of our guests especially with the currant price of gasoline. The people of the U.P. are known for being good neighbors & caring for one another, the very reason Beacon House exists. But we cannot do it alone, we need the help of communities across the U.P. to help us carry on our mission of providing a homelike environment for those traveling to Marquette for medical treatment.

Illnesses and accidents don't wait for a convenient time to happen and when they happen to you or a loved one everything else just falls away and the most basic human necessities are about all we can cope with. The Beacon House is there for the patients and their families offering a peaceful, comfortable "home away from home" during difficult times. Everyone who walks through the doors is treated with care and respect by the dedicated staff and volunteers who keep the doors open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Beacon House does not have a nightly charge but guests are gently asked to make a contribution at a level that is comfortable to them. I know that my donation to the Capital Campaign can make a difference to these families by providing a safe and comfortable nights lodging for as long as is medically necessary.

Jeanine Dagenais, Riverside Auto, Delta County
More friends and neighbors will be helped at Beacon House than any other place requesting a donation. Where else could you have made a contribution that helped over 80,000 in the 6 short years that Beacon House has been in operation?

The Dagenais Family has donated for 2 main reasons...
a) To provide assistance to our friends and neighbors at a time of unexpected medical crisis
b) Our donation does not stop helping after being used by one person but continues to help friend after friend.

Gerry Beck, Community Leader, Marquette County
To believe in something takes trust, faith, effort and strength and sometimes a miracle. To believe also implies hope. My hope is that everyone in the Upper Peninsula will feel an affinity for our cause for a variety of reasons related to their own life’s experiences. Help us “make a difference.” Sometimes all it takes is a grateful spirit that wishes to give back to society. We need to believe in the goodness and generosity of the people in the Upper Peninsula to remind us why Beacon House was started in the first place. We need your help and support.

I will be contributing to Beacon House’s Drive it Home Campaign because I believe in Beacon House and it’s mission which is to provide lodging and other supportive services in a "home like" environment for patients and their caregivers traveling to Marquette County for medical treatment. Years ago our vision was fulfilled and we have to believe our vision can continue. Beacon House has been a “home away from home” for over 80,000 guests over the past six years. Our doors need to remain open and our mission needs to continue.

Jim Lahti, River Valley Bank, Marquette County
I feel that people in the community should donate to the Beacon House’s Drive it Home Campaign because we are supporting our friends, family and neighbors during a time when they need to focus on themselves getting better and not the expenses and stresses that come from being away from home during a crisis.

River Valley Bank is passionate about giving back to the communities we serve. We are grateful to provide the services we do in this beautiful area, and strive to be a supportive member of the business community in every way we can.
