As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Julie couldn’t understand why she couldn’t catch her breath. Her diagnosis was Stage 4 Lung Cancer and she met it head on with determination and SISU.
When you’re aware of people in need, you do the right thing. You offer help.
The right thing to do is to provide a safe, affordable place to stay near the hospital. We offer one less worry, because we would want the same thing for ourselves and for our loved ones in the same situation. When “home” is too far away, we become their other “home” for a little while. A place to shower, to get some sleep, to map out the next steps in a complicated treatment process.
Most of all, we are a place that offers comfort and kindness to all within our home, regardless of the ability to pay or donate. Because sick and dying and healing and hoping go hand in hand, and financial worries are already there. One less worry. That’s what our donors allow us to offer.
So, if you’ve ever been away from home and needed some help, you know what we mean. If you believe we are doing the right thing, this is a great time to help. Thank you for considering a donation of any amount to help us with our program today, to help us build a new Beacon House next to the new hospital in the future, or to help us create a fund to keep it sustainable.
Helping is the right thing, and now is the right time. Thank you.
