Making the Dream a Reality...
This year, Beacon House will celebrate its 8th Anniversary  at its present location, 1301 North Third Street in Marquette, Michigan. The original Beacon House, however, opened back in 1990 on College Avenue in Marquette where the Marquette General Health Systemt ER parking lot is now located.

Our beginnings...
The idea for a hospitality house came from the Marquette General Hospital Auxiliary. This group of dedicated volunteers identified a need and took the necessary action steps to make the first hospital hospitality house in the Upper Peninsula a reality.

The original Beacon House opened its doors to provide lodging for radiation and oncology patients who lived too far away from home to commute back and forth to Marquette for their treatments. Later, the Hospitality House opened next door to accommodate the family members of Marquette General Health System patients.

The early days...
In response to the growing need for expanded hospitality services, a new and independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization, named Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula, known to most as Beacon House, was incorporated in September 2001.

Governed by a diverse group of committed and relentless volunteers from across the Upper Peninsula, the organization has been held together strongly ever since by the leadership of many of the original volunteers. On June 1, 2002, the new organization purchased the Village Inn, where we are now located.

Today...
Through celebration and consolation, Beacon House has been privileged to provide over 90,000 guest night stays to thousands of patients and their loved ones.

Pride and sadness...
The overwhelming pride and joy that we feel from achieving this milestone is, however, also marked with deep sadness. Beacon House is sometimes the last stop for a loved one in their struggle to hold onto life.  We continue, though, to be proud of and thankful for our role in providing a safe haven where compassion and support abound.

Forever grateful...
We are forever grateful for the trust and confidence others have placed in Beacon House. All of our generous volunteers, partners and donors from across the Upper Peninsula and beyond have made the dream of our mission-based, independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization a reality.

Forever etched...
We are truly humbled and honored to be able to support and share in the lives of the individuals and families staying here during such personal times in their lives. Although their stay at Beacon House is but one chapter in their lives, each and every one of these chapters is forever etched in the heart and soul of Beacon House.

Heartfelt thanks...
As is often the case, those who serve and give to others end up receiving much more in return. Without exception, this is what happens to all of us involved in the ministry of Beacon House. We express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you for your support in helping to lighten and lessen the darkness that so many face while they stay with us.

The shining light...
As the shining light of Beacon House compassionate support and service continues for years to come, we embrace each opportunity to serve all those who enter the doors of Beacon House with dignity and respect.
